Milanese design company Eligo specializes in Italian craftsmanship via local cultures and traditions—from Sardinia to Liguria—and long-established Italian brands such as Scarperia and Berti (knives), and Busatti (fabrics). The J&V Italian Design collections are differentiated by their characteristics and though they will grace any high-end residential application they are particularly suited to contract end-uses, in particular thanks to the width of the wallcovering of 90-100cm and their availability by linear metre which makes them especially useful for large surface areas.
On the other hand we love Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov for his energy; he can communicate just with colors and shapes, creating a fresh and vibrant imagery. From unpaved streets to the historical successes of Coppi and Bartali and Moser’s speed records, Italian cycling has experienced a technical evolution due to extensive research in aerodynamics and design applications. Many objects also contain a highly humane and emotional element, and indeed this type of design is classified as emotional design. Italian design combines functionality with irony, focussing also on materials formerly regarded as waste or makeshift products allowing objects to be successfully reinvented.

My favourite is the pair of shoes designed like trellis, and the whimsical handbag that looks like a miniature version of the Petit Trianon summer house at Versailles. This beatiful example of design are the hi-tech bike used by Francesco Moser with disc-wheels and a bullhorn-bar. There are dresses imprinted with garden parties, skirts emblazoned with bold palm prints and bags made of pretty wicker. Irina Drogobetsky is the founder of IDI (Italian Design Interiors), a family owned furniture and interior design business in Boston. Some stripes took on a more artistic look, such as Marc Jacobs’ Warholian” stripes, reports, while other designers like DKNY and Diane von Furstenberg were a bit less edgy with their stripes.
